Adelaide, daughter of Rudolph II of Burgundy, was prominent in the rise to power of her second husband, Otto the Great of Germany, and the establishment of the Ottonian dynasty, continuing to exercise influence in the courts of her son and grandson. She was also known for her charity and support of monasticism, in particular acting as a patron of Cluny and its reforms. Some of her letters survive. For more information, see:
