Comments: 

Stephen of Lexington’s letters record his visitations of Cistercian monasteries in Ireland in 1228. The 107 letters translated here in full are addressed both to Irish officials and Cistercians outside the country. They give a picture of disorder and violence both within the Irish monasteries and in Ireland generally. Apparatus include maps and a chart detailing the relationships between various houses in the Mellifont filiation. Translation from B.
