Jean de Venette Jean Fillons
lived 1307 - 1370
Jean de Venette was a French Carmelite friar and chronicler. Of peasant origin, he became prior of the Carmelite convent in Paris in 1339 and Provincial Superior of France sometime between in 1341. He is best known for his chronicle, which covers the Hundred Years War and the Black Death in 1340-1368. His authorship of this chronicle is, however, disputed. SKG
