Prudentius Aurelius Prudentius Clemens

lived 348 - 415

Prudentius was a Spanish-born Late Antique Roman Christian poet, best known for his Psychomachia, an allegorical work which was influential throughout the Middle Ages. He is also known for the Liber Peristephanon, a book of poems on mostly Spanish martyrs. His work shows the influence of classical literature and rhetoric, and he is usually considered one of the first poets to attempt a synthesis between Christian and pagan literature.
